Scripture selections are taken from the Rock Church Daily Bread Reading schedule for each month. “Lena’s Journalin’” are Lena’s comments on the specific passages from her Daily Journal.
1 Chronicles 16
1 So they brought the Ark of God into the special tent David had prepared for it, and they sacrificed burnt offerings and peace offerings before God. 2When he had finished, David blessed the people in the name of the LORD. 3Then he gave a gift of food to every man and woman in Israel: a loaf of bread, a cake of dates, and a cake of raisins.
4David appointed the following Levites to lead the people in worship before the Ark of the LORD by asking for his blessings and giving thanks and praise to the LORD, the God of Israel. 5Asaph, the leader of this group, sounded the cymbals. His assistants were Zechariah (the second), then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel. They played the harps and lyres. 6The priests, Benaiah and Jahaziel, played the trumpets regularly before the Ark of God's covenant.
Davids Song of Praise
7That day David gave to Asaph and his fellow Levites this song of thanksgiving to the LORD:
8 Give thanks to the LORD and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done.
9 Sing to him; yes, sing his praises. Tell everyone about his miracles.
10 Exult in his holy name O worshipers of the LORD, rejoice!
11 Search for the LORD and for his strength, and keep on searching.
12 Think of the wonderful works he has done, the miracles, and the judgments he handed down,
13 O children of Israel, God's servant, O descendants of Jacob, God's chosen one.
14 He is the LORD our God. His rule is seen throughout the land.
15 He always stands by his covenant-- the commitment he made to a thousand generations.
16 This is the covenant he made with Abraham and the oath he swore to Isaac.
17 He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, the people of Israel as a never-ending treaty:
18"I will give you the land of Canaan, as your special possession."
19 He said this when they were few in number, a tiny group of strangers in Canaan.
20 They wandered back and forth between nations, from one kingdom to another.
21 Yet he did not let anyone oppress them. He warned kings on their behalf:
22 "Do not touch these people I have chosen, and do not hurt my prophets."
23 Let the whole earth sing to the LORD! Each day proclaim the good news that he saves.
24 Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.
25 Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise! He is to be revered above all gods.
26 The gods of other nations are merely idols, but the LORD made the heavens!
27 Honor and majesty surround him; strength and beauty are in his dwelling.
28 O nations of the world, recognize the LORD, recognize that the LORD is glorious and strong.
29 Give to the LORD the glory he deserves! Bring your offering and come to worship him. Worship the LORD in all his holy splendor.
30 Let all the earth tremble before him. The world is firmly established and cannot be shaken.
31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice! Tell all the nations that the LORD is king.
32 Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise! Let the fields and their crops burst forth with joy!
33 Let the trees of the forest rustle with praise before the LORD! For he is coming to judge the earth.
34 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.
35 Cry out, "Save us, O God of our salvation! Gather and rescue us from among the nations, so we can thank your holy name and rejoice and praise you."
36 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting!
And all the people shouted "Amen!" and praised the LORD.
Worship at Jerusalem and Gibeon
37David arranged for Asaph and his fellow Levites to minister regularly before the Ark of the LORD's covenant, doing whatever needed to be done each day. 38This group included Obed-edom (son of Jeduthun), Hosah, and sixty-eight other Levites as gatekeepers.
39Meanwhile, David stationed Zadok the priest and his fellow priests at the Tabernacle of the LORD on the hill of Gibeon, where they continued to minister before the LORD. 40They sacrificed the regular burnt offerings to the LORD each morning and evening on the altar set aside for that purpose, obeying everything written in the law of the LORD, which he had given to Israel. 41David also appointed Heman, Jeduthun, and the others chosen by name to give thanks to the LORD, "for his faithful love endures forever." 42They used their trumpets, cymbals, and other instruments to accompany the songs of praise to God. And the sons of Jeduthun were appointed as gatekeepers.
43Then all the people returned to their homes, and David returned home to bless his family.

Vs. 2 After he finished giving all to God, he blessed the people……
There are so many different personalities and everyone of us has our own areas that the Lord speaks to us about, prompting us to bring this area to Him to help work Him on us.
For some, they do not like people, let alone love them. They’d much rather just hang out with God and pray and spend time alone with Him, if they never touch or socialize with others that would be ok.
Then, there are others that depend on people too much or love to be social, they feel serving God is expressed mostly by serving people. They get satisfaction from pats on the back, excelling or at least trying to excel in loving and serving people. They do this so much that they forget to give some of their time to God alone.
I hear the two most “important” commands summarized here. Jesus told us that if we do these we will find we are able to fulfill all of the other commandments, and that’s a whole lot of stuff to fulfill:
Love God, Love people, Amen.
Love God 1st would be the breakdown of order, THEN, love people like God loves them and in His presence shows you how.
I was just listening to some Terry Tekel (Presence Based Church) CD’s. He said there is a Mary Church and a Martha Church. They may be in the same location, or they may be completely one sided. Mary chooses the better part – His presence. As I read this it really spoke to me. I love people, because I have received a revelation that God so loved THE WORLD. I wake up thinking of how I can love people more, with the love of Christ. How can I deal with ones who are hard to love with the love of Christ, etc. I do that because of the revelation of love I have, yet I could do only that and all God shows me to do for these people I met or are involved with everyday. I can continue the rest of my life doing good works of love for people, because once I found that truth out, got that revelation, I just know to do it, and don’t have to ask about it again, it is a real thing that needs to be done ( kind of like the washing of dishes needs to be done and we just do it, or not J) All of my days can be filled up doing that Good/God thing and all of my thoughts and actions too. I’d be serving God and doing His will by doing that because I know it is pleasing to Him….then I read here……They brought the Presence (Ark represents God’s presence) up and offered sacrifices (it probably took a bit of sacrifice to get there that day, stop whatever they would have been doing and do this instead. They Gave God what could have been consumed by them, or what could have consumed them ( hurt, pain, sickness, grief, etc ) and then they gave God even their own peace. They sacrificed their own peace (their own comfortable places they could have been or who they were born to be in personality, etc). They gave that to God. They gave God their peace. They said, Lord. I could stay here and be all comfy cozy. I could just do my own normal daily routines, but today I choose to be here in Your presence, anyway, and on top of that one I ask you to shake me further and never allow me to get too comfortable where I’m at, never become satisfied as I am, but I want to always be open to You changing me. Take my peace. I give it to You. Stir me up, agitate me, make me uncomfortable where I’m at, where I’ve been and where I’ve been headed. Change and consume me and then…….only THEN, after that let the people also consume me as they would a loaf of bread, so they can receive of me what You’ve given me in your glorious awesome presence. So they can have a taste of that, by taking some of You which was placed in me. If I’m eaten by the world, then I’ll have to come back to You for more again tomorrow. Their hunger will lead me back to You! Their devouring of me, will cause me to have to come, or I’ll die in my relationship with You and with them. They cannot satisfy me, only You can do that. Only You!
David blessed the people by giving to them of what he’d gotten in God’s presence, what else is there to give people?
Then he led the people to the place he’d been- God’s very presence. He then showed them how to get there, bring the “Ark” there, by magnification (of God rather than day to day stuff, enemy works, attacks etc), by praise, which takes the place in our minds of concerns, the louder we sing and praise, the more time we spend on that, the less time we spend on worry and care, and the enemy will not be heard as much because of the loud sounds of praise and worship.
John 1:14 So the Word became human and lived here on earth among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. F1 And we have seen his glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father.
