Who is saying, “My child listen to Me?”
God the Father?
God the Son?
God the Holy Spirit?
All Three Persons of God?
Fathers of the Earth?
Mothers of the Earth?
Fathers & Mothers of the spirit?
The mother church?
Wisdom?
Yes!!! They are.
Which ever face you can place upon it that will turn your ears to the voice of God, that is who is calling!
If one, turn, if more than one, turn to the voice, respond. If all, great, the same response is appropriate, turn!
To what?
To Him.
He is a person to follow after.
To follow after a relationship with.
How many relationships do we treasure?
Those we treasure, are those we value, and respect.
If we are not listening and doing the words we hear out of a person, it is obvious there is no respect. One of the highest regards paid another person is respect for what they say, and going even further beyond that, is to heed by doing, what they’ve said. Following what others would consider only their advice!
Love and valuation follow after what one seeks.
Tune your ears.
Ever perk up when you hear a certain voice in your life? These days we have special ring tones on our cell phones to tell us who specifically is calling us before we can even read the caller ID to tell us who is ringing our tone! Ever turn to the tone, or ringing tune? Or ever avoid the tone, ring or tune?
What makes the difference? The decision in the heart to turn towards or away from it.
Who decides this? The one who turns to or away does.
We choose to listen, we choose to do, we choose to obey, we choose not to. We choose who to listen to and obey, or not.
How much are we searching for the treasure inside of God’s word?
I have study groups in our church and many times the pastors will tell us as leaders to recommend books to read for those in the groups. As we suggest books that will be keys in our lives to unlock hidden doors of the treasure of the word of God to us, I have many a time heard people respond by saying things like, “I don’t read, I don’t have time to read, I don’t stay focused while I read”, etc…
In all reality, we are only doing what we really want to do, and what we don’t or won’t do, is what we do not want to do.
Scenario -
If we were paying to take a course to improve our position at out workplace and would possibly get a pay raise after completing the course with a passing grade, what would we say to the teacher when given a book assignment that has nothing to do with the words of life that come from God’s word? Would our response be, “I don’t like to read, I don’t have time to read, I get distracted when I do read?”
The motivation for reading has changed, and this time we would be reading to gain and possibly make more money, right? This is why Proverbs says, go after God’s word and the unlocking of its treasure as you would go after money!
At times I pick up a book to read it, usually because it is assigned me as a disciple at church, and I have NO desire to read it. In fact, it seems dry and as I open it and begin to muddle through I am passing words by without them sinking in. One day I felt the Holy Spirit give me an idea, for the Word of God tells me as a believer in Christ that He is my Helper. The idea was to look at the book as a treasure key, to find a treasure in it. I got a highlighter out, as if I was studying, for I am a student of the faith and God’s word, and I began to search. Those same words that were dry and my mind had passed right over with no reception of, came alive! I could hardly believe that there was something there, for I was not seeing it before. I was blind, but now I saw. The Lord helped me look from a different view and make a change in the same situation!
One definition of fearing the Lord, is to regard Him higher.
Regard His word higher!
Than what? My own, other’s words, and my and others opinions.
Do you realize God is not giving to those who are not asking, seeking, or knocking? To those who ask, seek, and knock, more and more is being given. Those who want none, get none, even from God.
How does one stay away from the enticements of the world? They do not give any time of any day over to it. Their life is filled full of His word, of seeking and finding and knocking and openings in the spirit and asking and receiving. Their meditations are of Him and their actions are practicing’s of what they’ve heard and turned to. This is enough to satisfy any longing, desirous and hungry soul.
He is more than enough, more than enough. He is my Source, supply, the One I need. I forsake all others and cleave only unto Him all the days and all the hours in the days of my life…
