Reconciliation is a sweet word. Why does the Bible use this? We were once enemies of God and now we are able to be drawn near by the Spirit of God who so desires to free us from the eternal bondage of sin and death.
In order for this to happen, one must acknowledge that one is in bondage to sin and death, realize their need for reconciliation and turn from the separation to unification.
All mankind since Adam were bound this way, taken out of the very heart’s reach of God our Creator Father and Lord. It was impossible to be made one with Father God again, up until the Son answered the question of, “Who will go for US?” Jesus, the Son said He would go. He was willing to become a living sacrifice before God for the men God the Father so loved. He would shed His precious and Divine blood once for all that freewill beings would now again be able to stay in fellowship with God if they so chose. Sin made that impossible. Even if one desired to be made righteous before God it was a mighty impossible feat to do so.
Jesus made a way for freewill man to be able to choose love and obedience in response to God the Father again, forever.
Reconcile means : to make to agree, make two into one, equalize, reestablish a close relationship to, to resolve and make compatible again.
That sounds like a marriage and even the accounting of finances.
In reconciliation we do both, we bring back together what was separated and we give an account, a good account to God for our eternal relationship with Him and return of previously separated fellowship with Him.
All will give account of their relationship to God. Now that we can be one with Christ, the accounting will be whether we chose to be reunited or not. Now that men can be one again, through His shed blood there is no excuse to not be reconciled. Rebellion is the only culprit to not become one with Him and His purposes. Jesus came to squash out the power of rebellion.
