Today Our Daily Bread, Psalm 92 + daily repetitive scripture 2 Cor 2:14

Scripture selections are taken from the Rock Church Daily Bread Reading schedule for each month. “Lena’s Journalin’” are Lena’s comments on the specific passages from her daily journal.

Psalm 92:1-15
Praise to the LORD for His Love and Faithfulness
A Psalm.
A Song for the Sabbath day.
1 It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
2To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night,
3On an instrument of ten strings, On the lute, And on the harp, With harmonious sound.
4For You, LORD, have made me glad through Your work;
I will triumph in the works of Your hands.
5O LORD, how great are Your works!
Your thoughts are very deep.
6A senseless man does not know, Nor does a fool understand this. 7When the wicked spring up like grass, And when all the workers of iniquity flourish, It is that they may be destroyed forever. 8But You, LORD, are on high forevermore. 9For behold, Your enemies, O LORD, For behold, Your enemies shall perish; All the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. 10But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil. 11My eye also has seen my desire on my enemies; My ears hear my desire on the wicked Who rise up against me.
12The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree,
He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13Those who are planted in the house of the LORD Shall flourish in the courts of our God. 14They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing,
15To declare that the LORD is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

Goodness here represents- what is the best choice to make, the best thing to place priority on, the thing that takes us from being outside of the unity of God’s spirit and brings us into the unity of and with God’s spirit. So, It IS GOOD (beneficial in the kingdom of darkness that you live IN, and to have you be OF the kingdom of light in- yes, even in that darkness, it will make a marked difference on happiness and it is of your best interest as one who seeks unity of God’s kingdom on earth, it is the element that needs to take priority of the things you work for strive for live for…) to give thanks to the Lord! Wow, huh?
Then to sing- one does not, will not and cannot sing, if one is not of a specific mindset. Change your mindset and sing Praises to the Lord. There are many things we can give our praise to (or magnify). Praise is giving more time in concentration to. Praise is attending to. We could praise bad things, circumstances, situations attitudes, people. When we give our time and our thoughts over to the continual meditation and conversation of something or someone we are offering praise.
Do we continually magnify and declare our problems, the world’s woes? Or do we give our tongues over to the declaration of his word and His will and His plans being brought forth by our lives, our thoughts, our daily actions and concentrations?
Do I think of what He’s done in the earth, in other’s lives, in me? Do I tell about it, when I could tell about other things? Try it, you’ll love the benefits of it.
Hey Maria, Our bodies are the instruments of God’s spirit who dwells in us. Can He play what he wants to play, or is it our song we want to hear. We are His temple, His property, we are his instruments. This Psalm tells us what He wants to play through us. Praise, Thanksgiving. Our pastor says, our heart’s are the drums, our vocal chords are the strings, etc…Give them over to the use of His will and design. He’s looking to hear the music of a yielded life given over to the priorities of God.
This Psalmist is giving us an example by what he’s saying or singing here…
His life probably had in it the same opportunities ours does, for woe, for happenstances, for depression, for problems, but as is love, praise is also a choice. We can base our choices on feelings or we can change the feelings by the choice. Our choices can actually release the blessings and manifestations of God’s works in our circumstances. Because we choose Him above anyone or anything else, He is moved in our situations, and moves the situation to accommodate praise, because we choose it above what we could choose, which might be things like being down trodden, depressed, in despair, hopeless, etc. Where we could choose to stay in these states of mind, when we choose to be lifted out of these places by the decision of our wills in obedience to His calling us out of darknesses, we will triumph, praise will have had its way and enemies will flee from us, they cannot stay, they are not welcomed there. This is the behavior and manifested action of a righteous man. How can a person even begin to think this way? By being in the continual fellowship of those who bless and praise God on purpose, by being in a place where praise is taught and lived in examples before us regularly. In God’s family, in God’s house, where more than one person makes these types of choices in a daily walk with Him. The world comes against us almost more often than daily, correct? How much more should we surround ourselves with examples of godliness? It’s much harder to copy when the example is only seen here and there. Rehearsal of behavior is best adapted by continual visual teaching. If the enemy’s onslaught is continual and the godly influence is minimal, there is likely to not manifest a whole lot of change. Think of balance scales. To overcome, the side you want to be of the greatest weight and influence must be heavier. How much are you influenced and given opportunity for example of the kingdom of God? Weekly, Monthly, or daily? To live, it’s got to be at least daily, we’ve got to put a lot of weight on the things of God. God’s house, the church and the believers there are a great place to gain some of the spiritual weight.
Those planted in God’s house are the ones who are able to fulfill the Genesis mandate, to be fruitful, and the Great commission, to make disciples. Those who stay and grow there, will have strong roots that go deep into the ground and they will continue to bear more and more fruit all of their days.

So, we give thanks to God who ALWAYS leads us in triumph (He leads us there by His word, we choose to follow it or not)in Christ Jesus our LORD, that says LORD, not Savior, which he definitely is, but it says- Lord. Having Jesus be Lord is also a choice. If He’s Lord, He’s the boss. I follow His “orders”. I can know he saved me and loves me and died for me, and I can accept that for my life, but making Him my Lord is a whole ‘nother story. That’s when His fragrance is upon us, that’s when we smell like he does, like we belong to Him, like we’ve been with Him a lot. Have you been with Him much? I hope and pray so. There’s no other place to be.

(daily repetitive verse)
2 Corinthians 2:14

Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
